Art for the environment: Closed IV Eco Art Festival

With the exhibition of posters, the announcement of the winner for the best poster and the concert of the Niš band “Danilov’s Experience of Vienna” – tonight (October 21, 2022) in Mitrovica’s “Aquarius” the fourth consecutive Eco Art Festival closed.

“What I am particularly pleased about is that we are ending this festival with an exhibition that represents, in fact, a way of thinking of different individuals about how we can influence the ecology through art.” And these posters speak about the fact that it is possible to influence and, if nothing else, to convey a message,” said Miljana Dunđerin in front of the Private Cultural Center “Aquarius”, which is also the organizer of the festival.
She stated that the final product will be a brochure in which the activities carried out during the festival will be found, and that institutions that accept will receive posters as a gift so that as many citizens as possible can see the messages they convey.
The author of the best conceptual solution of the poster on the topic: “Reduce, reuse, recycle” (3R – s: Reduce, Recycle, Recycle) is Miloš Dobrić, according to the decision of a five-member expert jury. As the winner of the competition, he received a prize of 1,000 euros, while during the evening the visitors of “Aquarius” could vote for the winner of the second prize.

“The poster does not have an exact name, but there is a plastic bag on the poster as a symbol of environmental pollution, which is the main theme of the entire festival. “I tried to convey as clearly as possible, using clear typography and a message, that people must stop polluting their environment and do something about it,” said Dobrić.
Reminding that a plastic bag takes hundreds of years to decompose, Dobrić says that it is important to take care of our environment:
“All I can say is that this is the only planet we have and it won’t last forever given how we take care of it.”
“We are glad to participate in this kind of event, because we should all have a little more awareness about such an important topic as ecology,” said Nikola Ristić from the Niš band “Danilov’s Experience of Vienna” before the start of the concert.

He says that during their arrival in Mitrovica they found “decorations”:
“The mini dumps we all wonder about.” They are still there. We hope that such manifestations will contribute to the fact that there will be fewer and fewer of them”.
“We’re hoping to make a connection with people in this space that’s pretty straightforward.” At the sound rehearsal, we talked about how much these actions mean,” said Marijan Cvetanović from this band, stating that it is important for like-minded people to gather for common goals, especially in relation to topics such as culture, art and ecology.
When asked if they can use music and song to call for the care of the environment, Cvetanović says: “Given that Manu Chao was at Stara planina with us, of course we can.”
The festival was supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
